What's this strange obsession with Saturn? Part 1

Before we dive into this strange obsession with Saturn, let's learn a little bit about the history and mythology of Saturn.  Saturn or Saturnus in latin, is a Roman god, who has a similar backstory and identifies with the Greek god Cronus or Kronos. Who we will talk about later. Saturnus is the god of sowing or seed, also described as the god of generation, wealth,  agriculture, periodic renewal, justice, dissolution and liberation. In art he is often see wielding a scythe. ( side note: the scythe is also a symbol of freemasonry, often seen embedded in an hourglass. an homage to the god of saturn? ) He is said to have ruled in the Golden Age of Man. The most popular Roman festival "Saturnalia" held around the time of the winter solstice is in honor of god Saturn. This festival heavily influenced the holiday we now celebrate, Christmas.
